2018 Institute Class Graduation Ceremony & Dinner Recap
The adult 2018 Institute class, the ‘Courageous Class,’ had their graduation ceremony held at the home of alumnus Pat Murphy, LLBI ’03, on Monday, June 18.  With about 100 people in attendance, the class had their speakers tell about their 10-month principled leadership journey and they received acknowledgement and recognition from the community.  The 2018 Annual Alumni Campaign heads toward naming its ‘Best Class Ever’ and applications for youth and adult programs are still being accepted.

Governor George Deukmejian:  1928 – 2018
 Governor George Deukmejian, the 35th Governor of California, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. He truly was a noble public servant serving in the California State Assembly and Senate, as Attorney General, and as the 35th Governor of California from 1983 to 1991.  The Governor also served on the Leadership Long Beach Honorary Board of Governors.

 

Included are messages from City Auditor Laura Doud, past LLB presidents and photos of Governor Deukmejian and his wife Gloria from LLB events.  A public memorial will be held for the Governor on Saturday, June 9 at the Terrace Theatre in downtown Long Beach.

2018 Institute Class Graduation Ceremony & Dinner:  Monday, June 18
The adult Institute class will have their graduation from their 10-month principled leadership program take place on Monday, June 18 at the home of an alumnus near Virginia Country Club.   The Project Presentations occurred on June 4th with the four Institute projects and the 2018 YLLB class making presentations.

2018 Project Presentations:  Monday, June 4 at Long Beach Playhouse
The 2018 Institute and 2018 Youth Leadership Long Beach classes will present their service projects to the community at the Long Beach Playhouse, 5012 E. Anaheim Street.  Also, make plans to attend the 2018 Institute Graduation Ceremony and Dinner on Monday, June 18th and be on the lookout for information on the 30th birthday celebration activities on July 17 for LLB.

2018 Annual Alumni Campaign:  Key to the City
LLB alumni can make gifts to the 2018 Annual Alumni Campaign and help their class be the “Best Class Ever” competition.  The Alumni Campaign has a $50,000 goal; classes are to raise $2500 and have 100% participation as part of the class year competition.

Leadership Connections on May 7 at Skylinks Golf Course
Join LLB for a happy hour meet-and-greet at Skylinks Golf Course for individuals interested learning more about the principled leadership programs.  RoboBowl VI is planned for Saturday, May 5 at McBride HS.

30th Institute Class Application available online
Applications for the 30th Institute class is now available online at the LLB website.  Nominations for the 2018-19 LLB Board of Directors is being accepted through a form on the LLB website.  Information on upcoming community events.

Key to the City, Executive Leadership Series Class, Port of Long Beach Tour and more 
Leadership Long Beach started the month of April with tons of activity for alumni, program participants (new and continuing) and prospective program participants.

LLB Receives the Key to the City
Leadership Long Beach received the Key to the City from Mayor Robert Garcia (LLBI ’03) on Tuesday, April 3rd before the city council session.  YouTube video is embeded in the page.
